A note about outcrops

Over time, roads have changed (e.g., after construction of Interstates) and a few outcrops have disappeared. Where it’s possible to decipher those changes, modifications are noted on the maps. However, in the Notes and Pop-up descriptions, no changes have been made to the original field guide text even if current ideas conflict with author’s opinions.

Digitized Routes and Stops

Field Trip Routes, outcrop locations and descriptions were tediously compiled by Dr. Otto Muller, Professor Emeritus at Alfred University, and his colleagues. The NYSGA is deeply grateful to them for making these so readily accessible to interested to academic and the general public. For more information about Dr. Muller’s project please visit his NYSGA Mapping website
